Spring Fling 2025: A Celebration of Our Local Educators (picture gallery below)
On Tuesday, April 30, the CU Schools Foundation hosted its 5th annual annual Spring Fling— celebrating the incredible teachers of Champaign Unit 4 and Urbana District 116. Held at Riggs Beer Company on High Cross Road in Urbana, this Teacher Appreciation event brought together educators from across both districts for an evening of relaxation, recognition, and heartfelt thanks.
Teachers enjoyed refreshing Riggs beverages and delicious appetizers from Dish Passionate Cuisine, all while connecting with colleagues and winding down the school year in style.
One of the highlights of the evening was honoring this year’s Shining Star and Super Star award recipients—teachers who go above and beyond in their service to students, colleagues, and their school communities. These awards are a meaningful way to spotlight the dedication and passion that fuel our classrooms each day, and with over 70 applications – narrowing the field to the 20 awardees was extremely difficult since there are so many deserving individuals!
Adding to the festive spirit, more than 55 gift cards to local businesses (see below) were given away as a token of appreciation to those who pour so much into their work year-round. Whether it was for a favorite coffee shop, bookstore, or local eatery, these prizes brought big smiles and reminders that our community supports and values its educators.
Spring Fling 2025 was more than just a party—it was a thank you. A moment to pause, appreciate, and celebrate the people at the heart of our schools.
From all of us at CU Schools Foundation: Thank you, teachers. You make a difference every day.
