Scholarships

Your support fuels aspirations.

Since 2001, Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation has awarded more than $140,000 in scholarships and awards.

This spring, we awarded scholarships to 20 local public school students.  Congratulations to our 2018 scholarship recipients.

Urbana Community Music Education Scholarship – for Urbana High School students to take private music lessons ($1,000).
Perrino Scholarships – for Urbana Middle School and Urbana High School band or orchestra students to attend summer music camps ($1,900).

Scholarships:

CUSF Difference Maker Scholarship
Sponsored by Orange Krush, Busey Bank and Horizon Hobby – The CUSF Difference Maker Scholarship is established to honor students who have served their school and community through work, volunteer service, advocacy or some combination of these and have demonstrated school spirit with a high level of engagement in their high school. One student each from Centennial High School, Central High School and Urbana High School will be awarded a $500.00 scholarship.

Centennial High School Alumni Scholarship – Established just this year with donations from Centennial Alumni this scholarship honors hard working students who normally do not receive many awards or scholarships throughout their senior year, and those who may not necessarily be thinking about a traditional four year school. Students who receive this scholarship will have made a positive impact in different ways to the Centennial community. One scholarship will be given this first year for $500.00.

Ben Watts Memorial Scholarship – established by friends, family and classmates of Ben Watts to honor his memory. Ben Watts, a 1980 Central HS grad, played football for the legendary Tommy Stewart and was a co-valedictorian of his class. He was the father of Olivia Watts, CHS Class of 2017, and Samuel Watts, CHS Class of 2019. Two awards will be given to a Central HS graduating senior boy and girl who are planning to attend a college or university. ($1,000 each)

Two awards will be given to a Central High School graduating senior boy and girl who are planning to attend a college or university. Students will be chosen based on academics, sportsmanship, integrity and character. Preference is given to students who demonstrate good citizenship through volunteerism and/or exhibit resiliency and initiative. ($1,000 each)

Champaign Central High School alumni Scholarship – for a graduating Central High School senior whose parent/s or grandparent/s are alumni of Central High School ($1,000)

Greg Chew Scholarship — awarded to a graduating Urbana High School senior who intends to pursue a fine arts major in college ($1,000)

Judge Fred Green Memorial Scholarship — awarded to a graduating Urbana High School senior who demonstrates leadership qualities in both their academic and athletic endeavors ($1,000)

Keegan Bannon Memorial Scholarship—awarded to a graduating Central High School Senior who through determination, positive attitude and hard work has exceeded expectations in academics and extra-curricular activities such as music, sports, student government, and other areas. ($4,800)

Michael Hartter Scholarship—awarded to a graduating Central High School Senior who participated in extracurricular activities two to three years and demonstrates a good temperament. ($1,000)

The North End Scholarship — awarded to one graduating minority senior from Urbana and one graduating minority senior from Champaign public schools who demonstrate financial need and academic promise. ($500 each)

Perrino Scholarships — for Urbana Middle School and Urbana High School band or orchestra students to attend summer music camps. ($1,900)

Urbana Community Music Education Scholarship — for Urbana High School students to take private music lessons ($1,000)

Awards

Amberg Award — Recognition award for a District 116 teacher. (3-yr. award of approximately $1,500 annually)

Jeffrey Kaufman – grant to maintain the Jeffrey Kaufman Baseball Fields at Yankee Ridge Elementary. ($475)
