Various tools for planned giving arrangements can benefit the work of the Foundation for years to come. Perhaps the most common planned giving arrangement that can benefit the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation is the Estate Gift such as the will bequest or transferred life insurance policy. Charitable gifts made by will or life insurance transfer are 100% tax deductible and don’t interfere with cashflow during your lifetime. As with current gifts, bequests may be designated either as unrestricted – giving CUSF the most flexibility – or restricted; that is, designated for a specific purpose.
If you wish to include an unrestricted bequest to CUSF in your will, the following language is suggested:
Unrestricted Bequest to the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation
"I give, devise, and bequeath to the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation, Inc., Urbana, IL, ______ percent of all the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate (or _______ dollars, property, securities, etc. described below) wheresoever located to be used for the benefit of Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation in such manner as the Board of Directors thereof may direct."
Scholarships
If you wish to provide scholarships through endowment for graduates of the CU public schools through the Foundation, please call the Foundation office at 217-398-2873 to let us help you determine the guidelines for that support. Gifts of $25,000.00 or more can create a named fund which will be visible in the community and encourage others to contribute.
Restricted Bequests can be arranged by calling the Foundation office to establish the parameters of the gift. For more information, please call 217-398-2873.
