The supporters of the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation (CUSF) are committed to enriching the community by encouraging educational initiatives and facilitating excellence in education in the public schools of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois. Since 1990, CUSF has accepted applications each year from educators in the Champaign and Urbana public schools, and made grant awards based on these proposals. CUSF funds a broad spectrum of projects to help children of all ages and all levels of accomplishment, with continuing benefits long after the initial investment.
The Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation is an independent, non-profit corporation designed to enhance the quality of education in Champaign-Urbana through community support of the public schools. The Foundation's goal, in working with two school systems cooperatively, is to make a difference in our schools by providing valuable new opportunities for our students and teachers. With your help, the Foundation seeks to inspire, encourage, and support the creativity of teachers and excellence in public education, and to extend the benefits of those goals to as many children as possible. Through its several grant programs, the Foundation offers enriching opportunities by funding a broad range of educator-driven programs in every discipline - math, science, the arts, physical education and social studies. In addition, the Foundation seeks to stimulate the professional development of teachers by giving them opportunities to learn, innovate, experiment, and improve the outcome of their work.
By providing the "venture capital" for sound and innovative ideas on important educational issues, the Foundation aims to strengthen the ability of our schools to prepare our students for the rest of their lives. As of FY09, CUSF will have funded through grants, outright targeted gifts, scholarships and endowment funds, over $1,000,000.00 of locally-raised dollars to our schools which has served thousands of children as a result.
