CUSF is awarding cash grants to individuals or teams of 5th grade educators for the purpose of educating the children in the Unit 4 and Unit 116 Public School Districts about the environment and creative reuse.
About the Program:
- CUSF will award 2 grants of up to $800.00 each!
- Individual Unit 4 or District 116 5th grade educators or teams can apply!
- Please submit your proposal by the NOON, August 2nd, 2010 via mail or personal delivery!*
- Recipients will be announced on September 1, 2010!

We will ask you to provide:
- A summary of your project and goals for teaching students about the environment with a focus on the creative reuse of materials.
- A careful budget with signatures of any partnering educators.
- A realistic timeline for implementation.
- A demonstrated balance between the use of new and re-used materials.
- Details on how your project will be implemented and how each student in the class will be engaged.
We Encourage:
- Projects that can be duplicated in other classrooms.
- Partnering with cross-discipline educators such as Librarians, P. E., Art or Music teachers.
- Partnering with parents in your classroom.
We want to display your Project!
Please provide us with a visual presentation of your project by December 15, 2010. For example, this can be photos, objects you have made, posters, or student writing
Possible Project Themes:
The carbon cycle; wind energy; solar energy, insects and the role they play in human life; create a wildlife habitat at your school; waste management; or ground water and aquifers. Enhance your current curriculum by taking a field trip focused on the environment or sustainability; inviting a guest speaker on an environmental topic, or creating a craft project using reusable materials.

A Final Report form will be provided by CUSF and it will be due on January 14, 2011
*Do not rely on FAX to submit your proposal. Applications received after 12 noon on the due date can’t be considered.
