INVEST. DEVELOP. ELEVATE. ACHIEVE.
Are you a small business? Are you interested making a difference in our public schools? Do you have graduates from our public schools working for you?
20 years ago, several members of our local community came together to find a way to support our public schools without raising taxes. They knew then that to be competitive in Illinois, our schools needed more support. As a solution, the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation, a full 501c3 charitable public foundation, was formed. CUSF is a local organization for businesses and the community to use to make a difference in our schools through private investment. Today, we need your participation. We know that businesses work hard to bring new jobs to CU and that schools are always part of the equation. CUSF recognizes that as a community, we don't always do a very good job selling our local schools while we try to sell Champaign-Urbana. As a local business, we want you to join us as we work to strengthen our schools now in order to help build the attractiveness of our community for future economic growth.
Here is an example of what we can do with private investment: the Foundation is currently running a grant program funded by private citizens which puts cash directly into our classrooms through mini-grants. Our SPLASH GRANT Program has generated new data that confirm the obvious: teachers need more access to technology and more literacy materials. Through these SPLASH grants, we are providing hundreds and hundreds of new books in new collections and hundreds of new pieces of technology in our classrooms. We hope it can lead to more action creating new ways to strengthen the civic pride in our Champaign-Urbana public schools.
